Going from a structured program/ counting macros to a more intuitive approach with your diet can be hella scary!
When I stopped competing, I didn't know what to do! My body was freaking out. If I ate any carbs my body blew up & I looked super puffy. I had been keto for 10+ weeks & I knew I needed to reverse diet. So, I hired a coach to help me reverse but I knew tracking macros & counting every morsel of food wasn't going to be something maintainable.
After about 9 months of tracking, I went on a trip to Thailand. I didn't train or track any foods over there (obviously :P). And when I came back, I said screw this. I took my health into my own hands for the first time since competing.
& it was the best decision I ever made.
How'd I do it? So glad you asked :) Let's get right to it.
Intuitive Eating 101
The most frequent question I'm asked is....
‘How do I learn to intuitively eat & can you teach me?’
1️⃣AWARENESS: you were probably never taught HOW to actually listen to your body. in fact, you were most likely taught the opposite. you were given rules & laws about how the body works & in learning those rules, you were forced to give up on listening to your body’s cues & signals.
✔️by creating a space for you to actually learn what YOUR body NEEDS & what signals you should listen to, you’re able to form a harmonious relationship with your body - one FULL of grace & understanding.
2️⃣EDUCATION: most programs you find educate you on the tips & tricks that get you FAST results. they teach you unsustainable methods to reach your goals.
✔️with the BBM & IE, you learn what WORKS for YOUR specific body type. you create an awareness where you can FEEL what your body is asking for. & when you know what it’s asking for, paired with the knowledge of what it actually NEEDS, you’re able to eat in a way that supports your overall health, goals & lifestyle.
you’re educated on HOW to balance your body from the INSIDE➡️OUT. & when you find that, it’s easy!
3️⃣TRAIL & ERROR: you might not like this one 😝 but frankly, it’s a part of the process. & in order to truly find what’s best for you, you need to learn - just like everything else you do in life.
✔️you don’t just figure it out on the first try, it’s a process - with slip ups, wrong turns & errors. & it’s important to recognize that when those things happen, you don’t fail, nor do you get to just go back to your old ways. you get back up & KEEP LEARNING.

you need to wipe your mind clean.
clean slate (module 1 step 2 of the BBM)
you need to forget everything you ever thought to be true about nutrition. you can’t think about all the rules you know & all the restrictions you’ve put on yourself over the years.
because... it’s time to make up your own.
wanna know my beliefs?
you don’t have to be hungry to lose weight. hell, i don’t even believe you need to be in a deficit #fuckscience. i believe you need to be happy to get a body you love. i believe you have to love yourself to get there.
that’s what i believe. & that’s what my clients reap the benefits of. because they’ve changed their beliefs. & then their bodies change.
so, step 1...
get rid of all the rules & restrictions.
start making up your own.

let me tell you a story...
i was loosing my hair, blacking out every time i stood up, couldn’t loose the weight on my stomach & was exhausted no matter how long i slept (#intuitiveeating 101 pt3)👇🏻
🌱i was eating 100% organic, CSA produce, taking all of the holistic supps, meditating, going through #yogateachertraining & #holistichealthcoaching school, etc.
i thought i was doing all the right things!! so what the hell was WRONG with me?
i had severe #ADRENALFATIGUE 👇🏻
when it comes to your adrenal health , it DOES NOT matter where your stress is coming from. if you’re stressed, you’re stressed. & the more of it you have, the more knocked your adrenals get 🤯.
even though i was eating an extremely nutritious #rawvegan diet, it wasn’t RIGHT for MY body ❌ (strike 1)
even though i was doing all the self care practices, going to all the events & trainings, i wasn’t in the right relationship & was really unhappy ❌ (strike 2)
even though i was active & working out, my body couldn’t handle the intensity of my workouts & it added to my body’s stress levels ❌ (strike 3)
so again, just because you’re eating healthy & moving your body, doesn’t mean you’re eating right or training in a way thats best FOR YOU!!
i’ve found balance by using the BBM & IE. but before that, there was A LOT of #trialanderror - i.e. middle picture & many other stages.
you have to remember... #intuitiveeating is a PROCESS. you must go through the ‘figuring it out’ phase before you get to the ‘oh my god this feels amazing’ phase💡
MY TOP TIP FOR IE is...
take your favorite part and/or the parts that worked from each diet you’ve tried & make up your own! all together, you’ll have what makes YOU happy & works for your lifestyle.

& if you’re struggling to find YOUR balance, i encourage you to show yourself some compassion. you WILL get there, it’s just a mater of time.

which brings me to the next topic...
when you’re on a diet, you’re giving away ALL your power - because - you’re telling yourself (& everyone else) you don’t know how to eat in a way that’s good for you (a basic #primalinstinct). you’re telling someone else, ‘i trust you more than i trust me.’
one of my favorite things about IE is how much CONFIDENCE it instills in EVERY area of your life...
because, YOU TAKE YOUR POWER BACK!
when you’re choosing your foods, you telling yourself ‘i’m in control, i have the power.’ you’re literally taking back control of your life & gaining MASSIVE confidence by doing it✨
now, you feel great waking up everyday stepping fully into your power.
IE requires you to TRUST yourself; to trust yourself enough, to make decisions that are BEST for you & you must know, you’re not always gonna make the right ones - that’s totally okay! you can’t always be perfect, #excellenceoverperfection 😉& if there’s something i’ve made really clear this last month, it’s just how valuable the struggles & lessons are! & that comes from fucking up every once & awhile 🤷🏼♀️
so, you gotta have trust babe!!
it might feel weird & scary, but you gotta start somewhere.
